Marvin Fritz surprises in the Superbike World Championship

Last weekend, Marvin Fritz took part in the Superbike World Championship (World SBK) in Most /CZE for the first time with a wild card.
And right at the premiere he caused quite a hype. As the fastest German, he finished fourth, fifth and seventh in the free practice sessions. In qualifying, Fritz made it to 12th place and thus sensationally to the fourth row of the grid.
Fritz used his heavy endurance bike for this Wild Card event, so he was about 7 kilograms heavier than his competitors. With more ballast and about ten hp less power, Fritz started the first race with his YART Yamaha.
Right after the start, Fritz moved up to 15th position, but then slipped to 17th. The 28-year-old bit his way forward lap by lap and after 22 race laps the sensation was there! Marvin Fritz managed tenth place in his first Superbike race with an inferior bike and thus scored six World Championship points.
After the race there was a big celebration and Marvin Fritz thanked his team extensively. Fritz: "Thanks to everyone, you did a great job and thanks to the sponsors and partners. We are only strong as a team.
