Second Wild Card rider performance in the Superbike World Championship

Marvin Fritz used his Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) race in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) as a test for future plans.
In both races of the day, Fritz unfortunately did not manage to crack 15th place and thus score points, despite a lot of riding effort. Fritz: "The fact that you can't get on the Superbike podium with an endurance bike that weighs a few kilos more and has far fewer Superbike electronics is obvious. I definitely didn't want to crash and risk my participation in the final of the World Endurance Championship in a few weeks." Moreover, in the second race, his luck ran out on the seventh lap and he slipped from 13th position back down to 17th. Fritz: "In the second corner my front wheel folded. I instinctively held the Yamaha and pulled the clutch so the engine wouldn't die." Despite an immediate pursuit, Fritz only reached 16th place. Fritz: "In the last corner before the start and finish I was already on the rear wheel of the Argentinean Mercado/Honda. If the race had lasted one more lap, I would certainly have finished 15th and thus scored points."
Nevertheless, Fritz looks positively at the race: "I and my team now know exactly where we have to start. The race speed and my performance were top, I was able to set consistently fast lap times over several laps, an optimal starting position."
