What a start to the season - four games, four wins

The women's handball team of the Frankfurter HC is off to a successful start in the new third league season

On 4 September, the women's handball team of the Frankfurt HC started the new season in the third league - for the first time in front of 450 spectators. To start the season, the women from Frankfurt played at home against SG Meißen/Riesa and defeated them 34:27 (19:11).
A series of eight goals in eight minutes gave the Oderstädter women the lead, which they extended until the break. Anja Ziemer even managed a hat trick with three goals in a row.  After the break, the guests managed to make up a few points, but the Frankfurt HC did not allow much - at the latest with 29:20 through Kamila Szczecina, they had achieved the preliminary decision in this game (50th). Coach Steffen Obst was pleased with the successful team performance: "The mixture of young and old was right. I am very happy with the tempo of the first 20 minutes. That is the handball we want to play. After that, there was a lack of consistency and we couldn't maintain this level throughout. We will continue to work on that in the next few weeks."

The Frankfurt HC also won the first away match at SV Union Halle-Neustadt II on 12 September with 41:31 (20:16).
Despite the superiority of the Frankfurt HC, the hosts were able to keep the game open at the beginning (8:8,12.). A trio of penalties by Monika Odrowska and two converted fast-break goals gave the Oderstädter HC an early lead. However, the hosts then managed to score a couple of goals due to a lack of concentration. At the latest at 31:22 (43.) by the agile Emy-Jane Hürkamp on the left wing,

the one-sided game was finally decided. Michéle Dürrwald (back of the Frankfurter HC) summarised: "We had a lot of fun today and I think we showed it. We were able to pull away relatively quickly, but a few lapses in concentration led to some ups and downs in the game. We still have to work on that.

In the top match of the third division B, the Frankfurt HC women's handball team held their position against Rostock HC in their home match on 18 September.
The Oderstädter dominated the match already in the first half. While the Rostock attacks fizzled out thanks to an offensive 5:1 defence, the Frankfurt women succeeded in almost everything - whether speed counter-attacks, one-on-one actions or circle starts.

At the break, the score was already 20:10. In the second half, coach Steffen Obst substituted new players: "The course of the game made it possible to try something and bring in the second line. And it showed that we can rely on the young players.

A close 30-29 victory in Schwerin in the fourth game of the season on 26 September.
In a duel that was exciting until the end, the Oderstädter women were able to win at SV Grün-Weiß Schwerin securing the next points and once again the lead in the ranking. "Anyone who thinks there is anything for free in this league was proven wrong today. We can only survive if we fight with full commitment and will in every game," Steffen Obst summed up shortly after the final whistle.
